Miss Wit Designs Political Tees in Exhibition

Brooklyn, NY -  Brooklyn based T-shirt design emporium, Miss Wit Designs, & creator
Deborah Goldstein announce participation in the Chicago based Gallery Three-Walls exhibit,
Dispatch: Cloth, Print and the Political. Selected from hundreds of submissions, the Miss Wit controversial
Palin Institute of Abstinence tee, as well as the
Generation O, Community Organizer and the original Jon Stewart for President tees, will be featured along side other designers in this exhibition of grass-roots political efforts, micro-capitalism and the intersection between the commercial and craft in print media. Dispatch makes visible, en masse, both the artistry and sheer multitude of designs that were made in support of the 2008 presidential and associated campaigns.

Miss Wit Designs started in March 2003 by then social work graduate student Deborah Goldstein - whimsically blending a child of the eighties pop culture flair with a social work and socially conscious background, her line of tees make constant attempts to capture the pop-cultural zeitgeist and embrace the humor, irony and beauty and sometimes "you just have to laugh" absolute absurdity of daily living. In collaboration with Superba Graphics design house, and family and friends, Miss Wit's designs have been found in numerous transgenerational, "trans-topical" locations from gossip sites and publications like People Magazine to fashion, and political commentary sites like Wonkette.com.

The T-shirt arguably considered an American invention, insofar as it is worn as one's primary garment, and not an undershirt, became a substrate for advertising and political support in the 1950s. Since then it has played an invaluable role in the promotion of politics, sub-culture, music, leisure activities, businesses, sports team, personal slogans and more. The T-shirt is the walking, talking billboard - and probably still the most effective and inexpensive way to get a message out!
